Scott began playing drums at age 4 and has been performing and teaching professionally since early in high school. He went on to get his degree form Berklee College of Music where he received the prestigious Steve Smith Scholarship.
To further his education he has studied privately with Tommy Igoe, Yoron Israel, John Ramsey, Ian Froman, Ed Uribe, Bobby Grauso and is still constantly studying and practicing the art of drumming.
Scott now divides his music career into 3 areas: being a drummer and percussionist for hire, teaching drums and booking musicians and bands.
As a drummer and percussionist Scott is comfortable in many styles. He has performed with jazz vocalsist Etta Jones, saxophonist Eric Alexander, pianist Cyrus Chestnut, and vibraphonists Steve Nelson and Stephon Harris. He has touring experience with The Mighty Jail Breakers, a 9-piece funk / rhythm & blues band and The Cramer Brothers Band, an opening act for many country stars; including Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, The Charlie Daniel's Band, George Jones, Colin Raye and Toby Keith.
He has produced and recorded a Jazz CD available at cdbaby.com with David Leonhardt and Bob DeVos called the Soul Jazz Trio.
Scott is currently performing and recording as a member of The Alice Project an original pop rock group once signed to Sony records by John Kalodner (Aerosmith, John Lennon Etc.). They have just released a 4th CD on their own label. This group includes bassist Al Greene from broadways "Jersey Boys " and Jimmy Leahey who is touring with John Wait and Dennis DeYoung of "STYX" . The groups name sake, singer Alice Leon is a member of the songwriters hall of fame. As of April 2008 The Alice Project songs have been played hundreds of times on soaps.."One Life to Live", CBS reality show "Who Wants to Marry my Dad", and Disney's "Knock First". Alice has written a new song for the CRAYOLA company, the Kean University alma mater, over 60 songs for children with cancer via the "Songs of Love" foundation and has recently been writing for a number of independent films.The band has also joined the world of PODCASTS and has been played on over 250 shows around the globe.
Scott can be heard drumming every Sunday at Renaissance Church in Summit NJ ("The church that rocks!").
You can also hear him performing with his cover band Waffleband.com and you may even catch him drumming on one of the hundreds gigs he freelances each year!
Scott is a very busy drum instructor at his private studio in central NJ (see drum lesson page for more).
He is endorsed by Vic Firth drum sticks and accessories and is a member of their education team.
In addition to performing and teaching Scott runs a successful booking agency for musicians and bands. "He has the ability to put the right music into any situation." For 20 years he has booked, and continues to book, all styles of music in clubs, restaurants, and private functions. He has developed a huge data base of the best musicians and bands from performing with many of them himself.
